And notably, a lot fewer women (under 10%, as opposed to maybe 30% at UK races). Boom, and indeed boom, Foxy. Just do your best, not your wurst.

But when you go up to marathon, it is more like 1/4 or even 1/5. Even "day jogging," you see a lot more men than women. Women tend to work out less (they have less time - you might not like it but it is a fact that they still do the vast bulk of childcare and homecare) and if they work out, are more likely to be in gyms doing classes rather than on the roads. Even of the joggers, the women don't enter competitions. There is not much culture of fun-running and precious little of the marathon-as-fundraiser idea. But at the top end, it's much the same (or so I believe, based on results, not experience!)
