Oooh  Had heard of the weather on the news, but not known it was marathon day. Highest winds there since records began, was it? (Which since the quote was 70mph, surprised me.)
In contrast, a couple of friends ran Munich today, and it was a toaster. And had a lot of steps to climb afterwards to exit.

Lisbon went ahead, although they started an hour late and re-routed the HM to avoid crossing the river Tagus bridge in high winds. Seems like the HM route had a strong tailwind (point to point course) and a lot of very good times.

at the end of the day
not sure if this has been mentioned but...Lanzarote festival of running Saturday 8th December...Marathon, half marathon, 10k all on same day....Marathon route starts at Costa tequise run to Puerto Del carmen and back....ran the marathon last year, going back again this year. you can enter up to around a week before the events, fantastic atmosphere, bands all the way, etc,, weekend flights from most airports ..

Just back from Sofia.
The best things I can say about it is that it was cheap, and measured 26.2 miles.
Sofia is a lovely city with some interesting sights, Roman Ruins *inside* the main underground station, that sort of thing. The marathon missed all of them.

It was OK, to be fair. Probably quite a fast course if you're that way inclined. I do them for the whole package, though, so as a weekend away I quite enjoyed it.

I wasn't there but there were some funny videos of runners splashing through ankle (and a bit more) deep water
