DeeGee - Riga was fun. Definite recommend, as both place to visit and race. I did it many moons ago, within their 1st or 2nd year of organisation. Race day was warm and I remembered wishing for a bit more water stations. I am sure race has grown lots since my last visit and water stations have been sorted. The marathon hotel was convenient to both start/finish.

DeeGee, don't know about Bratislava. Suspect that is a nicer city to visit. Kosice is nice enough and there are plenty of historic bits and a statue of a marathon runner. A decent number of runners but no congestion that I can recall.

And that said, Cluj-Napoca opens tomorrow. Tomorrow only entries are €18. It is a destination served by Wizz from Doncaster, and although flights don't seem to be open yet, they can be had for less than £100 all-in.

Anyone done it?

Riga's the main focus of Autumn 2017, I think, RP.

Now my focus has moved from quantity to quality, I'm looking forward to getting out and about a bit more. The occasional one overseas should save me some money as well compared to the relentless weekends in the UK, where train, entry and night's hotel costs more than flight, entry and a weekend's hotel on the continent.

Thought Riga was May, rather than Autumn? It's one I looked at but dismissed as too close to Comrades.

Yes, it is May. Vilnius was what I was thinking of. Easy mistake to make.

I can't do Riga next year as it is in May, and I'm already committed to Liverpool as it's a friend's stag-do.

Just entered Cluj-Napoca. €17.95 to enter.

Looks like it's a lapped one, could be interesting.

Macedonia could be quite a good one - my brother lives in Skopje and has done the half a couple of times

That's a decent plan, min. I'm drawn towards the Balkans. Wanted to get the Baltic out of the way first, but it looks like Cluj and Vilnius next year, and then Riga in 2018.

All depending on the results of the Berlin ballot, of course. I enjoy that race a lot.

Anchorage was fun - you run through Earthquake park along the waterfront & through a series of short tunne;s - stat & finish in downtown - bar/restaurant 10 yards from the finish - free grilled cheese sandwiches at the finish, decent medal & good long sleeved tech shirt.

With my loss of mojo of late & still wanting to get my 50 states done my 2017 focus will be trying to get 6 new US states - Hawaii in Jan to start with :)

Bratislava is a wonderful city, less spoilt by tourists & stag parties like Prague, flat fast 2 lap course.cheap beer !
