Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Tell you what I'm looking for. An alternative to Berlin if I should fail to be drawn out of hat.

I've done Amsterdam, so not that one again, much as I loved it.

I'm after Northern Europe, not necessarily a country where I speak the language (I fancy a challenge), not more than 3 hours from Manchester or two hours from Schiphol, thousands of runners rather than tens of thousands, and an interesting city worth a weekend visit (not necessarily drop-dead gorgeous, but not likely to be murdered to death on every street corner). I'm more interested in socio-political history and people rather than greening statues of men on horses.

I'm strongly considering Poland, either Warsaw or Poznan (added advantage of direct flights from Doncaster) but I'm open to suggestions. Cheapness makes it even more of a goer - Warsaw's quite pricey to enter.

I hear from clubmates (big club outing) that Palma was 32C in shade (of which there was none on course!) at the start of the day and rising to 40C in the sun at the finish. Eeep!

Norway, Iceland both have maras Degee. Our club did Reykjavik a couple years back: mara, half and 10K, which sounded fun - August?. Oslo is a lovely city. September? :-) G

If you could still get the boat to Bergen from Newcastle I'd be all over Oslo like a powerful moss!

September's good timing, too. I'm taking a year off the Great North Run to give me more opportunities to do a decent foreign one.

I worry that Oslo might be a bit pricey, though?
