UB, I’m in for Tokyo next year (my 5th star) and I also went the charity route. I did Chicago and Boston this year and loved them both, in different ways.

For info, if you haven’t seen it there is a thread for the marathon majors where there is sometimes talk of how to get into the majors, hotels etc.

if I don't get in Berlin I'll have a crack at Warsaw, not ro be confused with Walsall & the infamous Bescot Triangle !

I ran Warsaw in 2016, and had a really nice weekend. Thoroughly recommend it.

I'm half thinking about going back to Cluj-Napoca to bury that particular demon. For those who know me, that was the race where I accidentally started the 5k instead of the marathon, ran a gentle 35 minutes in the wrong direction, and then managed to get redirected to the marathon about 25 minutes off the back of the pack. With no prospect of catching up, and unlikely to make the cut-off starting 25 minutes late, I binned it. One of three international marathons that I just binned, but at least at Bratislava and Vilnius, I was premitted to drop down to the half and got a medal and goody bag.

Thing is, I only ran Cluj in the first place because there were flights from the catchily named Robin Hood International Airport Doncaster-Sheffield. There's no such airport any more...

My mate who I was considering going to Warsaw with has now decided to do Chisnau that day & at €27 to enter somewhere I might now consider as a back up if Berlin don’t want me.

I loved Split as a weekend away. First half of the marathon is really interesting too, with some fascinating scenery not limited to an old fishing village, a naval base, Hajduk Split's stadium and a cliffside corniche with stunning views over the Adriatic. All this with a backdrop of the Dinaric Alps.

Second half is mainly an out and back along the prom, though. Although it is admittedly a nicer prom to run along in February than Cleethorpes's.

Just checking - has anyone here done the New Delhi Marathon (or indeed any other run in India)? I just happen to be visiting the city next February when it is taking place, so I thought it would be rude not to enter.

However, being India, entry is not straightforward. Due to local foreign exchange restrictions, Indian websites cannot accept credit or debit cards issued outside India. So I have emailed the organisers and they suggested I send my details to them, they will then add my name to the entries and I can pay in cash at the expo on the day before the race. I must admit I would feel a lot more comfortable with an official paid-for entry confirmation, but not much more I can do so just have to hope it will turn out ok.

I've not done an organised run but have been to Delhi and run some of that route. It looks good and should be flat and roads in decent condition. Air quality doesn't feel that bad when you are running but it isn't great.
