I have pencilled Guernsey in for next year but I'm waiting to see if Newport are going ahead with their marathon in 2024 as dates are likely to clash.

Hills of Death (HOD) Newport haven't updated their website, still shows 2023 race date. I think partly owned by London marathon now so there may be a change in date or even time of year.

Not sure why the bridge put you off, we ran out over the same bridge, no sensation of height, you don't need to run near the edge 😉

A couple of questions, having done a few marathons in different European countries.

1) I did a search and saw Riga mentioned on here a few times. Does anyone have any advice about it, as I’m considering it. The flights from Gatwick and accommodation look affordable.

2) this list is just for info, but I’ve done European marathons in NL, Belgium, Spain, Germany, Malta, Bulgaria, Austria, and France. I am thinking of trying to visit different countries, in the campervan possibly. I am looking for marathons, in different countries to those listed, that are possible to get to on consecutive weekends, without a return to UK. I was considering Luxembourg and then over to Riga, but possibly that’s too far a drive, although a stop in Warsaw for a couple of days could work. Also fine with trains, but ideally would prefer to avoid flights whilst there. I very strongly prefer road events, and would prefer them not to be trail. If there are any ideas, it’d be great to read them.

Have a look on the Ahotu website as you can search there for marathons by month and continent and it should also show which are road races.

Luxembourg was brilliant! It's joint #1 on my list with NYC.

A few years ago 4 from my club went over to do Luxembourg and it was 30+degrees. They said the heat was harder to cope with in the evening as it had built up during the day, even road surface was hot.
