Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch
or for an ad-free Fetcheveryone experience!

‘appen that I’m quite fond of old maps, and if I ever go back to 1911, I’ll be able to find my way home with this one (it could be a little awkward to put in a backpack though....

I’m also a bit of a sucker for old OS maps of places that I’ve frequented.
The Bristol and Lands End maps are cloth.

Just found this thread, I've always loved maps too and I'd never throw any away. I still use my old OS maps that are over 30 years old as I don't have smartphone technology The footpaths don't really change much out in the country.

Okay folks, I've added the various links to the sidebar now. Don't think I've missed any. Also citation for the Fetchie that brought the link to the thread. :-)

I do love a proper map and must confess to still buying paper maps for everywhere we go.

A friend recommends Viewranger too. When I get a new phone I shall load that app above many others.
