May is generally a good time to do it as it’s less midge and often reasonable weather.

I'm planning a week's walk with my sister in Sept. Current faves are part of the SWCP or perhaps part of the Coast to Coast

September is a great time to go hiking. Most of our UK trips have been September. One or two May, I would plump for September over April.

I have such happy memories of the DHW. I think that might have been our best walk.

We walked from Rannoch station to Fort William, much of which is on the West Highland Way (all apart from Day 1 basically).

Its a bit too busy for me, a bit too easy in terms of hills and the ground is full of huge stones. Not in a rush to go back.

Well signed and lovely people in the accommodation. We used this site to base our route off. carfreewalks.org
