I caught glimpse of LMH going like an express train at Mile 16.5 π. Shout outs for a couple of other Fetch shirts later on. Congratulations to all the runners (including those still out on course!) |

Sunnier than I expected. I was roadside cheering like a Fetch Santa in my red hoody. Didn't see anyone I recognised and realised how little patience I have with non runners

Didn't Mick and Phil run London quite a while ago, or was that "unofficial". bbc.co.uk |

They always jumped in unofficially a few miles in.

Race officials also made an 11th-hour decision to allow Mick Curry, 49, and his son Phil, 19, from Stratford-on-Avon who suffers from cerebral palsy and is in a wheelchair to take part in the race. They initially ruled that wheeled vehicles were not allowed in the main body of runners for "health and safety" reasons. "I don't know how many more marathons I have got in me and I wanted to take Phil round the London marathon, the biggest marathon carnival in the world," Mr Curry said. nzherald.co.nz |

Thatβs sensible as in reality their unofficial jumping in with the faster runners was actually more of and H&S risk than if they started in the correct position.

There was, I recall, much celebration on here when the decision to allow the Marathon Lads an official entry was made. And relief for some of us that the risk of Mick breaking the rules was removed.

So this is just a more permanent change to the rules then? I hope there are many others who take advantage of it.
