Shame that we have no way of seeing the trace that the apps recorded to show exactly how wrong it was in various instances. Lucky that mine was not far out in the end, but that is just a fluke and I probably shouldn't have used it really seeing as I was running a measured event. Seems that if the app recorded, whatever distance and time it recorded, they take that as the primary proof and won't entertain other evidence unless you had the app fail to record.

I'm sure there will be people out there who had to run a mile longer and missed their GFA place because of it, and I know of someone who whilst not going for a GFA place their app did record them a time that would have counted despite them being several minutes the wrong side of the time from having run a known course.

Anyone with a time discrepancy, watch vs app etc, it’s worth sending the deets via the email sent to you after the run. I got my 3:28 amended to the 3:26:47 recorded (for 26.3 miles) on the watch, which has nudged me into the top 100 (87) for my old man category.

Is there anyone on here, or any Fetchies we know about who were going for a GFA?

I cannot get how 3 of us running together starting app together had such huge differences in the app recording 26.2. No explanation at all.

Garmin is less easy to compare with mine saving and therefore being .33 out but the other 2 their watches recorded different numbers as well but again started together.

GG, isn’t it mainly the phones that are to ‘blame’? Doesn’t the app just use the GPS from the phone so if that has an issue, the app will be wrong? Probably watches are more accurate than the phones.

We all had iPhones and all had Garmins. I guess if the others lost connection and mine kept it could be the answer. Maybe I try to map it see which was more accurate...

Minardi, I just had a look at Moley73's time 😲 That's amazing to do that out of proper race conditions! What time did he need, do you know?

My phone and Garmin were more-or-less spot on all the way. But I had no trees, tunnels, or tight corners.
