I am a LIRF and have been taking session. These have been 5k 10k out and backs etc.
I also do hill sessions and fartlek sessions. ~Im quite sure I am allowed to do all this.

My question is am I allowed to do a session involving, sprints, squats , lunges, running backwards, wall sits, start jumps etc. I have watched a qualified coach do them but am I allowed to take a session like that by myself ?

Following with interest as I am in a similar position and still unsure as to what I can and can't do.
I 'assist' in track based sessions with adults and juniors, although a coach is always present.

I had to google LIRF! It is described as a qualification, so it seems odd that the course didn't cover the scope of what you can and can't do?

That aside, I don't think anyone *has* to be qualified to do a session involving those types of activity. But if you are charging for it and expecting to be covered by your insurance policy, you should probably check with the organisation that gave you the training/qualification.

Be very careful, Synge is correct - check your insurance. We live in disappointingly litigious times and the most innocuous of moves can be claimed to have caused pain.

Well I am insured through the qualification. I take session for a running club but it is a social running club and not a affiliated running club so no fees all done as a volunteer

Well from the UKA website: "This qualification (LiRF) will provide you with insurance to lead a group within the limits of the course content."

Which isn't particularly clear.

My understanding was that LiRF enabled you to take a group and do various training (no-track) running sessions.

I'm (finally) doing mine in March, so I guess I'll find out what's on the course!

Are you doing the "fell" version Fozzy? That's the one Helen and I did over in Mytholmroyd. I remember it was the day after the Calderdale Hike and my legs didn't want to move!

No, NE, I'm doing the "standard" version as the date fits in better.

I might do the Fell version of the CiRF, but again it's going to depend on dates.

I'm guessing that the two versions, particularly for LiRF don't vary that much?
