Interesting article especially the bit about coaching philosophy - I've been reading Squires recently and really like the focus on the system/perfecting the preparation rather than the outcome

Just had a coaching survey through from EA, which I have duly completed and given my recurring feedback about:
1. Too much focus on children in courses
2. Too much video content in courses
3. Not enough science bits

I expect nothing different from usual to come out of it of course, but I'll keep banging the drum.

I don't really know why I bother 😂

I did mention the endurance coaching conferences which were the best bit of CPD ever, but as they weren't organised by EA I doubt they will ever recreate. No idea if they exist now?

My coaching license has expired, because I didn't realise you had to book the new safeguarding Zoom session weeks in advance. The earliest one I could get was over 3 weeks away. Just did the session last night.

Notable that in the session one coach said he didn't coach juniors for the very reason that safeguarding was such a nightmare. The 2022 Whyte review is only going to make it more difficult. I accept the need for such safeguarding, and it's in line with teaching and other professions (one reminder was that volunteers have the exact same responsibilities as paid professionals), but I'm not sure a 2 hour Zoom session (despite covering good ground) can do it justice. Not to mention Zoom is a far inferior forum for discussions than face to face.

The only safeguarding issues we have had as a club weren't remotely covered in the session I did. I think they could revisit some of the scenarios they use.

Yeah ditto here, although ours were so bizarre I'm not sure many other clubs would have had similar situations.

Got something to say?
