Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I just remembered that I went to Weston-Super-Mare's lido back in 2015, but that was for Banksy's Dismaland, the theme park that was unsuitable for children :)

Did anyone go to the lido when it was operational as Tropicana, which from a quick Google closed in 2000?

Thanks all. It was a great couple of hours there. They were limiting numbers to 100 per 2hr slot, booked in advance, so it was really relaxed with plenty of space.

Just standing there at the end of the lido looking out to Mount Batten to the left, glancing over the sea, and seeing Drake’s Island to the right was fantastic. Paddle boarders out and a few swimmers and I could have been anywhere really, and then turning back around to see the lido and Art Deco building was a great place to be.

Next trip for me, if I can find time away from work and get there, is London Fields Lido. I think it's quite a well known historic one.

Linds, I still can't figure out if Hillingdon/Uxbridge Lido is open in the afternoons. It seems not, which is really dumb. I might try and call them sometime, otherwise another trip to Guildford or a lake near you might be on the cards.
