^^^^ That will fill in a gap in that part of Southern Scotland, though wonder why it's not called Dumfries parkrun?

Maybe because there is already a Dumfries junior parkrun, held in a different park, so to avoid any confusion? Anyone from the area will know just where the Crichton is.

Looking at it I'm a bit puzzled about the course as some of seems to be on actual roads (indeed the course description includes "roads") with no barriers to prevent access. Are they being allowed to bar these off for the duration of parkrun?

Anyway, it does indeed help fill a big gap, in a sizable town, the nearest current one being over thirty miles drive away in Carlisle. Most accessible parkrun now for over 100 000 people (some of whom however will still be maybe an hour's drive away).

A valid point Dvorak re junior parkrun (I must admit I'm not that au fait with junior locations apart from the local ones down here in West Yorkshire) and, as you say the locals will know the area.

Bob!
The course is set through the Crichton Estate, a beautiful 85-acre parkland in a stunning location.
Starting and finishing at the Crichton Memorial Church, the course takes you around the estate on traffic free surfaced roads and paths. The course is generally flat, with some moderate inclines

Looks like Haverhill parkrun in Suffolk s a go-er, starting in "spring" at Puddlebrook playing fields, which is a new park on the site of an old primary school, in one of the original 1950s east end overspill housing estates in the town.

Apologies to Hampton1 if their post is genuine but social media and the Bakewell parkrun website don't mention any cancellation. I wonder if it is the same individual that claimed Thornbury parkrun was cancelled a month ago....

Yes, the fact that the monsal trail is entirely a public right of way makes me a little sceptical.

Although I suppose not having access to Hassop station car park might be difficult.

There may be an inaugural parkrun happening near you. Best to check with the local parkrun volunteers to see if they want you to know about it or not.

Otherwise there are plenty of already established parkruns to go to in the UK and abroad, see: parkrun.org.uk
