You wonβt be on your own, flanker, there will be plenty more in a similar place. I will be breaking lots of my own rules too. Shoes havenβt done far enough on my feet. Distinct lack of long training efforts.
I think your decision to take poles is wise. Plus youβll have them available for anyone to use to get down to the pub on Sunday night from the house too π

Iβve been watching the recce videos and decided to dig out my handheld GPS unit to supplement the road bookβ¦
And my word there are some numpties on the Facebook group. They clearly have internet access so canβt see why they wouldnβt be able to find all the info they need on the race website

You'll smash it, flanker. All those years of experience will hold you in great stead.
Agree with you, phal.
And NDWDave, if it wasn't for the Facebook comments, Marc would lose half of his material.

STOOSH
Enjoying the taper miles now and gently ticking over. Nothing is going to benefit in these last 2 weeks and will start to keep a closer eye on my hydration from Friday. I don't worry much about carbing up as I have plenty of that already in my diet. I'm quite worried about the amount of daft questions being asked on the Facebook page. All the information needed has been sent by email or available on the web page and doesn't take much searching. I also see the met office has started to inform us already π
Happy tapering!

I always find avoiding the facebook group is a good race strategy :-). It's a shame the RO sometimes uses it as the method for disseminating information :-/
Still waiting to see what they do about the 100 briefing, as there is no way I'm cramming into that hall with 100s of other people in the current climate. I think they've announced a live stream for the 50, but not seen anything for the 100 yet.

I read the competitors notes that briefing(s) would be streamed. So perhaps have wrongly intrepreted no need to cram in the hall.

I'm also avoiding the in person briefing ........ i have been led to believe there is a certain amount of covid denial from the RD (i could be totally wrong) so i've already decided on my own "wave start" and that's from the back although i can't say i'm looking forward to the coach trip in the morning but i might have an alternative lift sorted out ......... fingers crossed.

"If COVID guidelines allow, the briefing will be in the school hall. We will also livestream the briefing via our Facebook page, for those who would prefer not to be in the hall."

Gromit, when I did the recce, the buses were really good COVID-wise when we travelled from Ambleside to Dalemain. Unless you were in a 'bubble' all middle seats were left empty to keep space distance.
