The arm warmers look like you are wearing a base layer when you have a tshirt. If you are wearing a vest it makes you look like a proper athlete/nob

I’ve booked my hotel for Thursday night. I’m staying in Windermere by the train station before heading over to Coniston on the Friday with my tent

I use arm warmers with either a short sleeved top or a vest top (I guess that makes me a nob Dave 🤣). I find the big plus is you can effectively switch from a long sleeved set up to a short sleeved set up by rolling them up and down. I find when I'm in a race where the temperature is fluctuating (often because of changes of altitude) I have a way of adjusting my cover often without having to keep stopping. It's pretty much my standard approach for races in the hills from May onwards unless the weather is really bad.

FF - I’m sure you would look like a proper athlete rather than nob : )

Also booked into a premier inn at Cockermouth (nice and quiet and has a restaurant attached) for the Thursday night. Don't like the idea of driving down on the Friday morning incase of any delays on the road.

Never tried arm warmers and not likely to either, i'm enough of a nob without them ;-)

The thought of trudging for miles in a waterproof over a short sleeve T doesn't appeal. Arm warmers/coolers bought. Cheap pair from Amazon, but they fit well weigh next to nothing and scrunch up really small. I don't care what I look like!

FR I find the problem with rolling up sleeves is that doesn't expose as much flesh when your too hot in summer (I tend to use that apprach in winter). Also I tend to find that long sleeved tops are generally of a 'heavier' material and simply too warm overall in summer for me (I tend to run pretty 'hot' and probably wear less anyway than most folk and rarely put a waterproof on unless I absolutely have to. For instance in 2019 mine never came out my bag for the whole of the 100).

RH mine are just a cheap thin pair from Decathlon. I don't think you need anything fancy. In general mine just live round my wrists for the whole of a race (makes it less likely I'll lose them that way!)

- If they lived around my wrists they'd probably end up being used as a hanky - I tend to have an old buff on one wrist for that

And? If it's not on my head that's where my buff lives too and in the middle of an ultra whatever is closest to hand gets used as a hanky!
