How far is Coniston from Windermere station? Is Windermere the nearest station? Can anyone offers lifts on the Friday night and Sunday afternoon please? What shoes do I need and how many pennies will Mr Bee need to send me some? Can I use my Garmin edge 705 (bike gps) as my navigator? How do I program it?
Not that I'm thinking of doing this of course.

Hi Jen!
IF we're there (and I think it's pretty much definite), we'd be able to take you from Windermere to Coniston on the Saturday morning, and as far as Birmingham on the Sunday afternoon. We're coming down on the Friday morning and staying in Keswick on the Friday night then probably camping on the Saturday night.
You need Terroc 330s or Mudrocs, and I'm sure Mr Bee will be happy to oblige.

NO, Jen, thinking of doing this would be silly None of us are remotely considering doing it.
Although if you did think about entering I believe you can program the rudimentary route into the 705 although it may be like the 305 and not be able to hold the detail that an etrex or similar can. In which case you'd have to put in waypoints to head towards rather than a track to follow.
PS I've got the memory map route for the 50 if anyone wants to to look at what they aren't running in more detail.
PPS When do entries close?

thanks vrap, I may well take you up on that, especially the Sunday. I'll be camping on Friday so may try and get over to coniston then.
Flanker - the 705 is the top kit for bikes - it's a proper gps like you get for cars
I may enter this next week, dependng on how this weekend goes.
I think it said entries were until July 26th?

All the usual suspects, then
Has the Harvey's map of the route been published yet? That would be very useful!

Jen, I'm reasonably familair of the 705, but as you say it's more like a car/runners GPS than a walkers one I believe, so I'm not sure it has the ability to download a detailed route to follow. Hopefully I'm wrong
Are they publishing a Harvey's map for the event?
