The plan would be to do the last 15.6mile in the dark so Ambleside to Coniston. Mrs SB has offered to do one Check Point and my Brother should be ok for the 2nd one.

Plan would be something along the lines off..... Meet at Coniston for 4.30pm drop any specific food of with the check pointers otherwise everyone chips in a Β£5 and I'll sort out and stuff Squeeze into minimum number of cars and drive to Ambleside - plan would be to leave cars in Ambleside and we can arrange to get them after (or if people have got friends/partners coming and they don't mind dropping us off and meeting back in Coniston) Plan to set off around 5.30pm (sunset is around 5.30pm) in two groups, a speedy group and a ambling group. I would recommend that you stick to a group and don't go off on your own (Safety in numbers and all that) Speedy group - expect to do trip in 3 to 3.5 hours and ambling group 4 to 5 hrs. (The ambling group will go at the slowest pace and will not leave anyone behind - If you join the speedy group and it's too fast you can always wait at a checkpoint for the ambling group) 1st Checkpoint would be at the pub (not sure thatβs a good idea ) about 1/2 mile before the planned ch |

2nd half of my post not sure what happened there...... 1st Checkpoint would be at the pub (not sure thatβs a good idea ) about 1/2 mile before the planned checkpoint for the race 2nd Checkpoint would be at the normal race place in the car park The speedy group can then get wait in one of the pub's and get a coffee or something stronger till the ambling group get back Anything I've missed? Any preference on the day? Any ideas? |
