I've often parked at Roe Head and then followed L50/100 route to High Kop then back via the tops.

Lots of opportunities for loops out of Kentmere (if you can find any parking!) in either direction.

Depends on the age of said puppy and enthusiasm of the 2.4 children- I was going for the easier end of strolling

Thanks all. Some food for thought. Yes me RH. I'd say the Kelpie puppy (nearly 1, not sure when they grow upπ€·) is more enthusiastic than the 2.4 kidsπ Not on route granted but a very pleasant walk up Whitbarrow Scar to Lords Seat today. Cracking the flags!

Sorry me again. Anyone recommend some events in the Lakes to get more experience of the area if not the 100 route itself? I've done Grand Tour of Skiddaw, Ambleside 60k, Lakeland Trails 55k (and some of their shorter races) so just looking for some more options.

The Lap has some cross over of the route in a few places, however the May version sold out i think .......

Thanks Gromit . Route cross over would be a bonus but not essential. I like the look of some of those from Nav4 Adventure and Ascend Events. I'm sure there are others I haven't heard of too.

The Ascend Lakeland 5 passes is good and hard, especially in the weather conditions on the day I did it. The Keswick mountain festival 50k is a decent run without much overlap of the lakeland 100 route, but in roughly the same place as the Buttermere to Keswick bit. I did the lakeland trails 110k (100k these days) a couple of times when building up to the lakeland 100, but never in the same year. But if you've done the 55k, you know about that one. |
