Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Just been into a local charity place that takes all kinds of crafty things. My oldest and I both sorted through our stashes and took all sorts of ends, scraps and unused balls down and they were really grateful!

We had a browse around. Two rooms full of yarn, fabric, haberdashery, hooks/needles/scissors, beads, craft books and patterns. Some very old and vintage, some newer, they take house clearance stuff. Said they recently got 70+ boxes of yarn and knitting from one old lady!

Not only do they sell to general public they have groups like special schools coming in, as well as a group of volunteers who will complete craft projects or make new stuff from their stock, like hats for homeless projects. Such a great resource I'm glad we found it

Sound great Meglet, would you mind sharing where it is, I think I have a bit to donate, and of course it wouldn't hurt to browse...

Question clever people
I made this top years ago
Have worn and washed it a few times but today noticed this

Have I caught it or is this an almost dropped stitch? Should I leave it or see it together?

It’s a broken bit of gelato. Follow the stitches round and you can see where it’s missing. If you’ve got any spare yarn you should be able to darn this effectively by replicating the stitch pattern.

Maybe where you’ve changed ball? Or perhaps just a piece that’s been caught.

I’m making a jacket, supposedly an easy pattern (Vogue 9339). It has these pattern markings at the neck end of the shoulder seam - but no reference to anything fiddly in the instructions. Any ideas what they mean?

It’s a collarless lined jacket.

There will be a point at which you have to match symbols with another piece or perhaps its where you sew on a fastening?
