That's a lovely pattern runningmumof3boys . I have my eye on making this one, either as a cardigan or a jumper: ravelry.com

I struggle with patterns so I use YouTube and I’ve found the exact video on there. She uses worsted wool (American term) which I think is Aran uk but do you think I could get away with just double knit as I’ve already chosen my colour way but it’s all double knit?

You might have to do a bigger size on a smaller hook and keep the tape measure to hand to make sure everything fits together, rmo3b. But I'm sure it can be done. I love the current fashion for crocheted jumpers and cardigans, but not enough to grit my teeth and learn to make more than a chain. (I'm currently discovering the reality of knitting a poncho in 4-ply and mostly in stocking stitch.) |

As Vrap says, should be fine if you allow for making a bigger size. Do the suggested tension swatch (assuming there is one!) and see what the difference in size is. If you've not bought your yarn yet you could look at Paintbox Aran, it comes in load of colours (it's just a standard acrylic). |

And I'm sure you know this but if you're following a US video be aware of the difference between US and UK crochet terms - e.g. their double is our treble.

Here's a useful chart for knowing the weights of yarns that I tripped over as I have trouble comparing north american yarn with UK yarn: Yarn Weight Conversion Chart UK USA Australia 1 ply Laceweight 2 ply 2 ply Fingering 3 ply 3 ply Sock 3 ply 4 ply Sport 5 ply DK DK/Light Worsted 8 ply Aran Worsted 10 ply Chunky Bulky 12 ply Super Chunky Super Bulky 14 ply * Please note that conversions are approximate |

Thanks all. I have bought my wool (well I have a spare room full of wool ) it only takes 7 balls. They say each square should be 6 inch so I guess if mine isn’t I can add an extra row ? I say wool I mean “yarn” as it’s definitely not wool. I can’t even touch wool let alone crochet or wear it ! (Itchy) |

The lady said it took her 5 days. Which means it’ll be ready for next winter at my speed 😂
