Very happy to leave the lavender growing in the garden for the insects, icemaiden, and you can have all of the dried stuff.

I've eaten a cake that I thought would benefit from the addition of lavender. It was a plain parsnip and lemon sponge. Generally, though, lavender makes me think of fly spray.

I can just about tolerate the smell of it if it's wild and I walk passed it, but that's it.

I used to make blueberry and lavender jam. The lavender just took the edge of the blueberries and gave it a lovely depth of flavour.

My first Christmas present from my BF was a hamper of homemade lavender goodies inc lavender shortbread. It was all well received.

I don't mind a light whiff of lavender, it's the same for most scents with me really. Anything too strong gives me a headache - like coming withing 50m of a Lush store for example!!

I can't shop in Lush for a similar reason. Sneezing within yards of the door, and a headache afterwards.

I can cope fine with Lush now. Having young daughters, and a son who isn't averse to interesting personal hygiene products, has toughened me up.

I've decided to make a few Christmas gifts this year - I'm making owl mug cozies for son's gf and nephew's wife.

My effort so far is here ravelry.com Hopefully the finished item will look as cute as the original!

I'm also having a go at making jam and chutney as the stuff we tried to bring back from the Christmas market in Stuttgart got confiscated as we completely forgot about the limits for hand luggage d'oh!! So spicy fig chutney and apple & champagne jam experiments happening this week and if they're a success, then that's more gifts taken care of!!

And I've decided to have a go at making stollen - which should prove interesting!!
