Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Well, I had a go at piping. What have I learned?

Perfectionism is a hard task-master.

The piping cord was too thick so the final result looks 'unbalanced' compared to the imagined result when I started. Next time I'll use some that is half the thickness.
The machine foot that I used is the correct one, but even so I couldn't get as tight to the edge as I wanted.
Three right angled corners in one corner is a lot of fabric to handle and a challenge for the machine as well as my fingers. i.e it's a bit wobbly.

It's impossible to get perfect results first time.

Overall I'm pleased to have been able to do 'something', but disappointed with the end result. I'm now thinking of knitting a large chunky blanket to sit on top of the seat cushion to obscure the workmanship.

Danaerys socks complete, I'll put pics on Ravelry later.
Crochet cast on for Dream bird is incredibly easy, if a bit fiddly. I was expecting it to be more complicated.
Wool is wound, so now to decipher the German pattern- its 22 pages long and quite wordy.
this project will have the working title of Tourettes shawl!

First Dream bird feather. I'm living how the yarns are working together. The orange is one of mine.

The pattern is wordy and confusing but with help from Ravelry thread and using both long and short instructions it's progressing well. I'm on row 57/71 for the first repeat.

That looks really good and I'm following with interest. I like the Dreambird pattern but am currently working on the Pincha pattern
ravelry.com that I saw before Dreambird. Hoping that the learning from Pincha will lead me on to Dreambird.

Socks. It seems to be a complete minefield. Cuff down or toe up? Anyone recommend a good pattern to start with?

winwickmum.blogspot.co.uk (also does a book called super socks)
cuff down basic sock with instructions for DPNs, Magic loop and short circular.
I've not done anything more daring but great gran just wants plain navy so I am going to attempt a patter with them!
I also got a two at a time toe up book for my birthday to try!
