Does anyone know the area and can suggest anywhere we could go? @Elsie Too As you're going to be in Scotland you have the right to roam on the rivers, lochs etc. UK rivers guidebook will probably have some suggestions, linked below ukriversguidebook.co.uk As for Blyth there were people launching from the South beach when I was orienteering last weekend.. I also think (though not certain) you could use the lakes at druridge bay country park for a small fee. Otherwise most of the Northumberland beaches are nice. Have fun! |

Druridge Bay information is here - https://www.northumberland.gov.uk/Local/Country-parks-visitor-centres-coastal-sitesPubl/Druridge-Bay-Country-Park-visitor-centre.aspx. Not been on the water there, but has always been a nice place to run round.

Thank you all for that advice, plenty to keep us busy there. I knew the fetch world would get us sorted. I’ll let you know what we do and hopefully post sone beautiful photos.

Druridge Bay is lovely - great beach, the lake and the visitor centre / cafe. And if you're there on a Saturday there's a parkrun - two laps of the lake ![]() |

I was definitely thinking of getting a parkrun in. Probably Blyth but if I can get the family moving then might give Druridge Bay a try.

G We were there last year. It would be lovely on a lovely day (we had a very poor week of weather overall) and we plan to go back. We parked opposite Tibbie Shiels cafe and paddled on the Loch of the Lowes (rhymes with cows) as well as St Mary's Loch. we preferred the former; St Mary's is quite large and exposed and can be a bit wavy. Excellent for sailing. We stayed at the Half House holiday cottage, which was a lovely wee place (albeit very close to the road). There's a good walk all around St Mary's Loch which FlyingScotsman ran around a couple of times during the week. |

I love how Fetchies can come up with info on most any topic. I've never heard of Loch of the Lowes Angus C, sounds lovely. ![]() |

Totally agree HappyGrrr Today we went to Kielder water and though we couldn’t SUP we had a lovely afternoon with a Canadian canoe and a sit on top kayak. Paddles about 2.5 miles. |

So Kielder doesn't allow SUP but does allow canoe and kayak? What's that all about? Boat-apartheid?! What about a SUP is different to a sit on kayak? And my SUP has a seat and double paddle. So it *is* a sit on kayak! Would that be permitted?! Weird one. ![]() |
