There's an outlet which sells through ebay, Wetsuit outlet, which is very competitive on prices. stocks a good range. Think carefully about whether you really need a wetsuit at all, though. If you are paddling continuously, you get pretty warm. Most flatwater kayakers don't bother with them. Just a cag/pogies for the cold weather, and long tights rather than shorts. A less sexy look, admittedly, but more comfortable!

Depends also on how likely you are to be spending time in the water. My brother races flat water in England and wears cycling tights and a thermal shirt, like Bru said.

Club do sea and river trips. We are undecided as to what we will do most. Consensus from people I've spoken to up here is get a wetsuit.

We have wet suits for our sitons. Paddled on hired vessels in the Summer without. Mrs Muds still has different sun tan lines on each leg lol :)

Shall I resurrect this one? I’ve just read Mandymoo’s blog which got me thinking.

I love a bit of kayaking on holiday. Ive done it here in the uk once or twice on organised trips too. Now that my summer holiday is cancelled and the kayaking that would have gone along with it too, I’m thinking about how I can do more of it at home. I live about 1 mile from the Tyne, 20 miles or so inland. How do I go about making a start? Are there rules that govern who can go in the water for example?
