Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I've tagged the thread so some of the related threads over there (or down there on a phone) might also be of help.

Craft have a lot of jackets in different categories and surly one that suits your needs.
Not sure if you have that brand in the Uk?
Also gore with “shake dry” might work as well, on the more pricier side.

Gore ShakeDry has, as a fabric, been discontinued by Gore. Not sure why, nor what the replacement is, but it's a shame as it's fantastic.

You may find some items produced a while ago still with some retailers, but think it's down to odd sizes now.

I used to use a Montane jacket, very light, scrunches into an apple, for shorter, local runs. Still in the hills... I would literally hold it in my hand and throw it over when it gets either windy or wet. It wasn't cheap but it got a lot of use! The sort of thing you stick in your handbag when showers are forecast in summer and you hate brollies :)

I have an Alpkit Gravitas (I think that’s what it’s called) that is light and packs small, but more comfortable and breathable is the Harrier Exmoor. It’s also a bit more resilient to wearing a pack over it - or even under as it’s deigned with pleats across the back.
Not the lightest or most packable though.

To close the loop… I got an Inov8 storm shell. Can’t wait for it to rain now!

Thanks for all the tips and recommendations..

About This Thread

Maintained by Fitz
Today's rainy morning run reminded me I should start the hunt for a new summer running jacket:

Lightweight
Breathable
Packable (ie folds into its own pocket or suchlike)
Waterproof (or at least showerproof).

Any recommendations please?

I have an old Ronhill jacket that meets some of those criteria but sadly is about as breathable as a bin-liner, it gets so wet on the inside I can't tell whether or not it's rainproof on the outside!

Thanks...
