Rae - my only successful weight losses have been by Ironman training in my late 40s early 50s and then this year, in my early 60s I’ve lost nearly the two stone I have put on since my last weight loss by doing the Fast800.

Ooooo, Fast800, whassat?
I lost 18kg in total some years ago, going from a personal record (not one I'm looking to break, obviously) of 82 down to 64 (no idea what that is in stone tbh, I sort of deliberately never convert it because kgs don't have the same emotional baggage for me so it's less distressing to think about) as part of a concerted effort between me and the Sam. That was when we both started sportsing.
Since then I've crept back up, initially to around 68ish for a long time, then after breaking my ankle to around 70ish, and now after 18 months of aborted sports and general malaise I'm up to 75ish.
Back under 70 is my goal.

Fast800 - there was a channel 4 three part series maybe two years ago - it’s low carb healthy eating with lots of veg and very little sugar. The idea is you can start with 800 calories a day if you want fast weight loss. It is also time restricted eating which I found really helps. I generally don’t eat till noon and then no more eating after dinner.
I usually do kg too but converted to stones as that seems to be what lots of people like. Most of my adult life I was between 63 and 66 kg but I’m only 5’2”. I went down to 57/58 when training a lot, and over the past 10 years I’ve gone steadily up - in January I was 71ish and I’m now back under 60.
It worked for me!

I'm 5'4", Hibeedeb, I can't imagine being under 60kg... 64 felt almost too low - though I know in BMI terms it was only just inside the 'healthy' range. I don't think BMI was ever intended to apply to those of us who are part pit pony.
Shifting over 11kg since January is pretty good going though, well done!

Nearly up at 76kg (1.75m) - it's not huge, but I know I should be closer to 70kg than 80kg. If I can't keep it under control with just cutting out some of the worst stuff then I'm going to have to commit to some specific type of diet! Argh. G

Rae - it doesn't suit everyone, but I find weighing myself every day and logging a moving average really helps keep me focussed - and it helps to get used to how your body reacts to different foods or levels of exercise etc. So I don't get disheartened seeing a gain because I know a long run, or pasta or something salty the day before a weekly weigh-in is to blame for a blip. Someone on here introduced www.trendweight.com as a good way of doing the rolling weight thing.

Rae - thanks. Under 60 is okay for me but I certainly couldn’t go under 55 - or I don’t imagine I could. I must have passed that number on the way up in my early teens 😄

I've been weighing daily, but only recording every other day (I'm three days in so far!), and started using My Fitness Pal to log foods - not so much to restrict calories as such (I've actually been under the 1200 target every day so far) but mostly to make myself be more conscious of what I'm eating.
I've also cut out booze - which I'm sure has been one of the biggest factors in creeping up - until after the big tri on September 10.

I've had one glass of alcohol since the middle of Jan - I've been disappointed in that it didn't lead to the easy weight loss I was expecting. I can not manage on 1200 a day - even eating "exercise calories back - it's OK for a while and then I just run out of energy, 1400 is about my low limit, which is why it takes me so long to lose being older really suck when it comes to keeping the spare tyres under control
