Sounds a bit cliquey and you have to be on the inside to know. I hate private jokes.

I'm getting a sense of in-crowd, private-joke, tap-on-the-side-of-the-nose too. Offputting.

(Not, of course, that I'm the target market, since I'm not buying kit.)

I've been chatting with the owners a bit, as I've picked up a bit of work doing technical stuff for them. I think the goal is to try and encourage everyone to feel like it's ok to wear bright colours. I can share your feedback with them, as I don't think they intend it to be divisive.

I'd probably still be wearing black leggings and no skorts if the unicorn companies had been referring to me as a "clucker" on social media five years ago.

I hate wearing bright colours and don’t like being called names either. Certainly isn’t selling it to me

I understand, and will let them know. From my own experiences, I know that sometimes the best intentions sometimes benefit from a bit of feedback.

I’m a Flanci wearer and I didn’t understand it either.
I think some people who choose to wear colourful sports wear have been called out for not taking their sport seriously. And some men/ male presenting people who opt for colourful leggings and skorts get abuse too. So that’s maybe where it’s come from.
I don’t like any kind of name calling or ‘otherism’. So it feels like an unexpected mis-step from this brand.

Understand and will feedback too. It is in response to people who wears flanci or any colourful kit and being ridiculed, it’s happened a few times one young girl was made to feel like she wasn’t a runner because she wore colourful leggings ‘if you are a serious runner you wear black or you’re a joke’ and we have a few men choosing to wear skorts and one guy who is a very strong confidence character had to leave a running community.
So it is meant to be positive as it’s ok to be colourful and stand out in the crowd and not be ridiculed/bullied, equally it’s ok to wear whatever you want to wear. Just don’t be a dick. (Last sentence is addition)

Supporting people to wear what they want is absolutely the best part of it. Maybe I've misunderstood their intentions a bit - perhaps a clucker is someone who actively dislikes people who wear bright colours - in which case it's a more understandable term.
