On unicorns, my nephew plays football, but he wants to train for running so he's quicker on the pitch and asked me to help (beams) so we went for a run last night. He had tracky bottoms on and was asking me about leggings. I said of course boys can wear leggings and often do with shorts over the top. This ended off with him coming today and taking away 2 pairs of black skins and a pair of black flanci with paw prints. He really loves the colourful leggings but I know his parents will (sadly) have a fit
For now I have ordered him some ultra shorts, so lycra shorts with the short overlay as an extra birthday treat (birthday Friday) he can always wear the long black leggings underneath. But it made me sad to suggest that as a boy he can't wear the colourful ones given that we in Flanci promote colourful and there are plenty of hetrosexual men embracing skorts for comfort. I will wear them down. What I did say was I would have a clearout and let him know if any are going spare...

Great role modelling GG, of course the lads can wear whatever is most comfortable for them! Any chance the older generation can be talked around to embracing unicorns in “team colours” as a stepping stone?

I’m going to get him some I’ll look out for flanci buy and sell page and just go for it. He’ll have ultra shorts to ease in quietly.

I will add the worry from parents us him getting bullied or laughed at by peers. We’ll ease them in slowly. We have some great male flanci role models. If he sticks at running I wont mind buying him some but an expensive outlay to lie in a drawer.

James wanted to run again tonight so who am I to refuse. He came up and asked if he could ear some of my flanci leggings. So he picked Strong and put his shorts on top, but spotted some lads from school in the woods and was scared he'd get picked on so took off in other direction. Its the only reason I dont buy him some really loud and bright ones the kids are total ba$tards.
He brought the skins back with the pink piping, his mam and dad said they were a bit girlie FFS what is wrong with people. I have got him some ultra shorts and we'll build up slowly

That's a shame, gg, but as you say kids can be horrible and if James and his parents don't want to take the risk of him being picked on for wearing colourful kit I wouldn't blame them at all. Let the adult men who are old enough not to give a fuck or enjoy subverting expectations do the trailblazing.

I know v-rap, but makes me so angry how judgey people are.
I said to him people can be fuckwits, and they judge based on being different. He can 100% have colourful leggings but he has to feel comfortable and safe wearing them (coming to ours to change and ask to run in woods doesn’t suggest either). I’ve suggested we get used to running and when he wants too he can borrow my leggings or if he finds some he really wants and will wear I’ll buy the.
Makes me so sad. He’s a great kid but marred by single minded morons

Am thinking about selling some of my Flanci skorts as I keep buying new ones and my storage is getting a little tight. Not sure exactly which ones yet but will be small ones.
