I’m going to try and talk to someone at apple, today my phone wasn’t even connected to anything.

Once or twice it's felt a bit warm (but nothing special) but certainly never enough to be uncomfortable. I think I assumed the 'warm' issues were to do with whether the phone was in use for audio, but then it didn't happen every time I was listening to something.
