I'm an over-pronator but found my Stinsons OK for the Lairig Ghru hill race. Basically I needed a pair of shoes that protected my knees and heels and they did the job very well. I did go back to Run&Become where I bought them to discuss the over-pronation issue. They kindly let me try a pair of orthotics then watched my gait. They made no difference as there is so much give in the spongy sole that the pronation continued. For me Hokas are fine for long trail running but I would not buy the road running versions.

Interesting post :-)
I usually run in Nike Vomeros- really quite good cushioning. I wear orthotics to correct over pronation. I have a lowish bone density(osteopenia); but am encouraged to run by the medics- as it should strengthen the bones(I've to avoid marathon distances though). I saw the HOKAS CLIFTON on offer at Millet Sports(£89.99). I have purchased a pair- womens size 8. My Nike Vomeros are a 7.5 and I read that HOKAS are slightly on the small side- hence me opting for a sixe 8 online. I am impressed reading reports about the superb cushioning of the HOKAS. I remember the fetchie Flip ran in HOKAS after suffering from stress fractures. I am hoping the shoes I have chosen fit ok. People have said they "feel like a clown" wearing the HOKA trainers. I don't mind this- if they are protecting me from injury. I will try my orthotics in the HOKAS and see how they feel.

I am interested in hearing from anyone who uses the HOKAS for road running- up to half marathon distance

I ordered the HOKAS a couple of day ago - and when I checked again last night, there were no size 8 left and the price has gone up to £98. So..........it seems like I have got a bargain if they fit and feel ok. I don't normally buy trainers online unless I am familiar with the shoe and know it fits. Unfortunately the HOKA shoes are difficult to find to try on locally.

I will report back what I think of this shoe :-):-)

I have just bought the Hoka Clifton from Millet Sports as well NRGEE. I already have a pair of Hokas ( Rapa Nui ) so knew what size to order - I agree half a size up from Nike ( or the same size as Salomon or NB ).

I don't have any extreme gait problems, and therefore don't use orthotics.

I bought these as a neutral, cushioned, race shoe, for up to marathon distance. They are the same weight as the Adidas Adios Boost which I currently use a race shoe - which is amazing when you see how much more there is to them compared to the skimpy Adios Boosts.

Just 2 shortish runs so far, very comfortable, no hotspots.

If planning on buying anything from Millet Sports, then if you go via topcashback topcashback.co.uk ( shameless plug for a Friend referral ), you get 7.35% cashback ( which works out at £7 on the Cliftons ). Plus I got offered a chance for another £15 cashback by signing up to Great British Discounts - it's a bit of a faff ( and costs an initial £1.95 ), but they end up sending you a pre-paid Mastercard with £15 on it - used it last night at Tescos and it worked ok. Both the Great British Discounts and the Mastercard have to be cancelled, or there is on-going monthly charges. But, with a wee bit of work you are effectively getting another £20 off your purchase ( ( £7 + £15 - £2 ).

So a pair of Hoka Cliftons with a rrp of £100 for £70 :-)

Was out when my Hokas were attempted to be delivered today :-(

They have gone to the local Royal Mail delivery office. Disappointed! I did get an e mail to say they were going to be delivered today and I waited in until midday. They tried to delivery them at 12.10pm...........typical!!;-)
