As above.
My 2 nd or 3rd Garmin is dying after > 5 years service. It’s done ok - lasted as long as I did at 2018 Comrades 11hr55 For first ever DNF, and probably helped me on about 30-40 marathons so doesn’t really owe me much.
Since I fell and bashed screen a couple of months ago , moving function hasn’t worked 99% time , so everything recorded as run, but not being able to change the time easily has been a real hassle , especially with travelling across time zones recently.
Help the number of Garmin types and various expense look sooo many and up to £500.
I mainly use for running , and the HR function.
And walking

To record runs and walks to Fetcheveryone and strava .
When running I NEED pace , current pace/mile, distance and time , .
Yes I’ve used for recording workouts but not essential, but a nice extras.

So , please great minds of Fetcheveryone land , what would you recommend, rather stick with garmin as connect account links to fetch and starva.
Don’t really need £500 of gizzmos.

Maybe a garmin to help me get through next 30 marathons to no 100 would be nice 👌

If you can find a Forerunner 255 for a reasonable price then it is really capable, accurate, and with great battery life. The main thing missing from higher end units is maps and it doesn't sound as though you are particularly interested in those.

Also take a look at the Instinct watches. Older generation of GPS chip and not multiband so a bit less accurate.

Neither are exactly equivalent to the VA HR; I had one of them though and it was bleeding edge at the time, really good watch, but both of those would be a bit more user friendly these days.

The 255 currently reduced to £195 on amazon, and if you click thru from fetch's affiliate page (link at bottom of each page) then gives a few pennies to fetch to keep the site going :-)

Another Vivoactive user here, God forbid that I should agree with HG, but yes it does everything I need. Screen is smallish, so not great for navigation.
