Good running EP. :-)

Yer know sometimes it's good to just relax and not care about anything, no numbers at all. Just run and look at the Garmin data after. When you relax, those runs are often the best ones. Keep up the good work! :-)

Bob!
What's going on here then?

EP has new legs, I reckon I've found a new heart!

This is my 4th week of doing Parker sub 70's after a short (3 week) rest from running. My standard sub 70 run is 6 miles. My first on the 18th November was done in 1.04.04 at 10 .41 pace, every subsequent 6 miler has been quicker.

19/11 1.02.58 10.30 pace
23/11 1.00.22 10.04 pace
25/11 59.46 9.58 pace
27/11 59.26 9.54 pace
01/12 58.13 9.42 pace

Today I done another 6 miler, splits were 10.08 ( I still get HR spikes for the first 3/4 mile every time!), 8.33 !!, 8.50 !!, 8.57, 9.07, 9.03
so, 54.44 @ 9.07 pace

what is going on!!
I'm running faster at sub 70% than when I used to 'go out for a run'

admittedly I've been watching my weight and have lost 16lbs in the last 8 weeks, but I had already lost more than half of that when I started the Parker method.

Well done Bob, that's what we like to see!

Once you're trained up you'll start to stabilise at a certain pace, and then you 70% variations give you a good indication about how fit or tired/ill you are. If you have the odd run when you slow considerably don't worry about it, it just happens. I had a really slow 70% run last night (40 seconds slower than normal) but it's all fine as long as you keep on the ball so to speak.

Losing the weight helps too, nice one.

Bob!
Thanks for that Hendo.

It's good to have you experts around to de-mystify what's going on.

Bob, that is a cracking result and I am no expert. That is a nice bit of weight to shift too.

Everything you need to know about training with a heart rate monitor. Remember the motto "I can maintain a fast pace over the race distance because I am an Endurance God". Mind the trap door....

Gobi lurks here, but for his advice you must first speak his name. Ask and you shall receive.

A quote:

"The area between the top of the aerobic threshold and anaerobic threshold is somewhat of a no mans land of fitness. It is a mix of aerobic and anaerobic states. For the amount of effort the athlete puts forth, not a whole lot of fitness is produced. It does not train the aerobic or anaerobic energy system to a high degree. This area does have its place in training; it is just not in base season. Unfortunately this area is where I find a lot of athletes spending the majority of their seasons, which retards aerobic development. The athletes heart rate shoots up to this zone with little power or speed being produced when it gets there." Matt Russ, US International Coach
