Plenty of traffic-free miles by the canal iirc.

Actually it was 2012. I did it in 2013 as well though and ran with a woman from Quaker Running Club who didn’t like me swearing at the end :)

Yes, I was thinking 2012, as it was the last year I ran a Marathon.

Think I'm going to sign up for liverpool towards end of may. Dont want to not use the training I've done. Still going to do my 3 week taper as need a rest, but then just try and tick over for the following month and throw a couple more 20s in.

I'm increasingly expecting cancellation or postponement. Toying with booking into Chester in October as a reserve, and if Manchester goes for an autumn postponement I could always try to sell on the Chester place as they allow easy swaps etc.

Fitness is just getting really good here too, so will be a bitter pill to swallow having the Chester experience last year go south too. But there are bigger fish to fry than personal running challenges.

It's just a shame there are no minor marathons on the same weekend as Manchester, I'd happily book into a 200-person event (if places were available) just to have a reserve in place.

I think time isn't looking kind for Manchester. But it's understandable and though disappointing it is simply one of those things outwith our controls so we have to carry on if the bad news comes in the next few days. Hopefully it can be rescheduled but the stampede for hotels for the Scottish contingent like myself starts again (I had got lucky with a cancellation this time around).
