Son is in for London, and whilst we've got freely cancellable accommodation available so there isn't a big impact if it does get shifted to Sept / Oct, I'm wondering whether it might be entertaining to try to game the system by booking cheap Premier Inn accommodation near to the London start for every weekend in Sept / Oct with free cancellation in case postponement doesn't happen...

I actually think there is a fair chance it will be allowed to go ahead, as the govt has been quite vocal about keeping normal life going and an outdoor event is at the low end of the risk scale.

Organisers might choose to cancel regardless of course.

If jda thinks it'll be on that's good enough for me. 11 miler tonight then (puts the takeaway menu away) :)

I'm not saying it will be on! Events are already being cancelled left right and centre due to organiser concerns even though the govt hasn't said anything yet.

I do however think it would be hard for the govt to do a sudden u-turn and issue a wide ranging ban in the next few weeks. In order to ban mancs they would surely have to do football, schools, all sorts of things. Maybe we will get to that point - maybe we already should be - but they don't seem to think so for a while yet. And given my own anti-social existence I don't think my attendance would be a significant risk for myself or others. I'm virtually self-isolated as a default :-)

LOL, I wonder if jda is being over-optimistic (in terms of event cancellation anyway) because of his lack of faith in the way the govt is handling things? It seems to me that "path of least disruption" is the route that any govt should be taking, so closure of schools etc (where "productivity" for the economy isn't as critical in terms of supply chain etc) can be done with moderate impact, and 20,000 participant marathons also fit into that same bracket. And it's not just the event itself, which as an outdoor event clearly presents few risks. It's the drain on policing etc to support road closures, medical support in the event of mild or severe injuries, etc. It might not be a big spreader in terms of infection, but it is something that can be done without, with no real consequences.

Just 5 for me tonight, 11 tomorrow, and then a final 20 on Sunday. Unless cancellation intervenes.

Thanks ph - are they "officially measured"? It's a bit of a long way for me (I'd be traveling down from Cheshire) but worth keeping at the back of my mind.

lark - this is the po10 profile from one of my training partners (she's too fast for me in all honesty!).

Check August 2016, should ease the mind. I'd even be tempted to come and run some of it with you :-)
