Are there any underpasses/tunnels on the 2020 course? (Provided it goes ahead)
I guess what I'm really asking is do people do anything fancy with their Garmins as per PTB's blog that I referred to on here a while back or is it sufficient just to leave auto lap on and let the average lap time do it's thing?

I can't recall any underpasses beyond the road under the M60 from when I last drove along the route. The only area where I'd be sceptical about GPS reception would be around the Beetham Tower in the city centre. I'll probably just rely on comparing auto-lap beeps vs mile markers and see whether I'm notionally ahead or behind and try to keep that in my head, though if I do end up wildly out I might revert to the datafield that I've linked to which I always have running anyway on my watch.

Fordy - larks is correct; the only "tunnel" is when the M60 passes over the route at 10.5miles and 22.5miles, but there may be issues around the city centre (but Canary Wharfe it is not!).
The organisers have posted the following (or various similar variations) on social media about the possibility of cancellation:-
"Obviously this is a developing situation, so nothing is guaranteed, but for now all is set to go ahead on 5th April. We'll email everybody an update early next week, we know it's frustrating."

Thanks both. Sounds like Garmin set up may end up being irrelevant! 😤

how is it going for everyone. ran 20m sat. finding it tougher than frw years back but really pleased to be back to distance running. already decided if event gets cancelled i will run 26.2m on the day. i live on the course but most likely will head out into north cheshire countryside. be harder than organised event but better than not.

Tune up race for me yesterday - a local half which I managed in 1:30:45 so reasonably pleased with that.
I wish I had you dedication Spanners - I have already booked travel and accommodation for Manchester so If it gets cancelled I'll be spending the weekend sampling Manchester's drinking houses. Every cloud and all that...

20miles for me yesterday. Into the final week before taper. Legs suitably tired but looking forward to easing off with the running. If it doesnt happen, I'm in for Boston as well, but would prefer not to have to train/think about it all for a further 2 weeks

Getting close now. Another long run done and next week probably the last one before taper (although sometimes do two week taper as it works for me)
At least the maranoia is around something other than the race day weather this year!

3 week taper? Must admit I'm feeling like I could do with getting into taper time, February was my highest mileage month (234, not huge compared to many but big for me) and now I've just fininshed 4x60m weeks when I've never strung two of them together before. Yesterday's final 8m of a broken up 19m were unexpectedly tough, indicating I need to get a little rest I think.
Can't help but dwell on the fact that the event may yet get cancelled after putting in the effort in training, but there's nothing I can do about that so just need to keep my head down and stick to the plan.
If the govt pulls the plug on big marathons, but lets major football matches continue I will be cross though!!

I feel like tapering too Larkim. Put cancellation out of your mind and focus on the plan every day.
