It's very quiet in here, to say that the race is next week! I hope training has gone well for everybody, and you're all feeling fit and ready for the marathon.
I for one am not. I will decide in the next week whether to amble-walk around, to keep up my record of only missing one GMM, or not to bother. It seems a bit of a shame to not use my gold number, but equally v.daft to attempt the event given my (lack of) training recently.

I hope you are able to give it a go Nelly. A race like this can be fun to do at such a pace as you get more time to enjoy the atmosphere.
I've been behind on training this year and this will mostly be a Comrades training run for me but I'm hoping I can improve on my time from Tokyo in February.

Yes, it's crept up very quickly. Looking forward to it.
Still early in terms of the forecast, but currently looking very good - nice and cool and not too breezy.
A couple of practical questions for those who have done it before: -I'm in Pen B. Is Pen A for the elites? -Is the bag drop very busy (both dropping and collecting) -Roughly how frequently are the trams to/from Old Trafford? Is it possible to pay by card/contactless?
Thanks in advance!

Really looking forward to it, just tapering down and hoping to become in peak condition. Weather looks perfect and well settled for the weekend.
Pen A is not elite but a reasonably large group of the faster runners eg me

paul:- - Pen B includes sub3. I guess the cut
-off for Pen A is sub2:45 or sub2:50. But you’ll still be across the line in less than 1min. - it will be busy for bag drop-off (upto 5mins at peak time?), but pickup will be fine at your pace (<1min). - I’m not sure if you can “tap in/out” with a contactless card (maybe), but you can buy a ticket (which is the size of a credit card) contactlessly. Trams are every 5-10mins on a Sunday to/from Manchester.

You can buy tickets contactlessly (is that a word?) and most tram services on that line are about 10 minutes apart but they’re going to be more frequent on marathon day.

I’m not running now (injured during first part of training) but will be marshalling with my club covering the first 4 miles. Good luck everyone.
