Can’t help you there Nelly. Contrary to my inner monologue when running well, I’m not actually a legend.

Just thought to look for the thread and here it is :-)

I'm already entered for next year, stop a long way off of course.

Right I'm (finally) officially confirmed :-)

I notice at least one other Fetchies name on the Legends Club wall of honour (not that my name is on the list yet, as they managed to miss me off the list as I'd entered using different email addresses!) greatermanchestermarathon.com

Unlike this year, I WILL train for it properly this year!

Does anyone understand why they've closed entries for the summer ?

Seems a really strange business decision - someone could be willing to sign-up, finds they can't, so goes off and enters another race that will take their money. I mean it's not as if they really need to do anything, the website is sitting there, and I presume the acknowledgement email, etc is all automated.

Putting it out the now as my vlm rejection magazine is about 6 weeks away

Once that hits, I'll be committing to Manchester marathon - if anyone has a place for sale please let me know

Since my positive post on 3rd July "Unlike this year, I WILL train for it properly this year!" the training hasn't gone, mostly due to CBA :(

Entries have re-opened (Gus, I've no idea why they closed entries for the summer).

Also, it's the last day for entries into next month's Manchester Half Marathon, if anybody needs an upcoming event to motivate them to get out and train (yes, I'm talking to myself!).

Well even the most far-sighted hardly needs to be training seriously yet. I have another few weeks of CBA lined up, but will be getting myself pre-season fit from Oct onwards. Even that seems a long way out from an April target but I'd like to be going ok by the end of Dec when there's a big 10k to aim at (ribble valley north of england champs and my V50 debut).

I'm toying with the idea of my first marathon in nearly a decade. The chance of bumping into some other fetchies is adding the appeal.

Outline of plan is:
1. English Half Marathon this weekend: goes really well, get PB, decide I'm amazing and clearly it's all a question of onward and upward => enter GMM.
2. modest training throughout Autumn to the end of the year, but keep things ticking over, do a 10 miler each month
3. Essar Four Villages half at the end of January
4. Use that as a base to build up to a glorious appearance at the GMM

So plans might change come Sunday afternoon!

I'm entered. Agree with others that it seems a long-way off, but have been using Sept to step up one step from CBA, then Oct-Dec reasonable pre-training training, then proper training from around Boxing day!
