Yes the organisation seemed great (though I didn't use the baggage drop or parking). Water stations and marshalling etc was perfect, mile markers also seemed good though mile 21 took a long time in ending...though that was probably just me!

Alcohol-free beer is an inspired choice of recovery drink - a good dose of carbs and fluid and much more palatable than over-sweet sports drinks.

Probably too much to hope for good weather again next year so maybe I should give it a miss :-)

Didn't get to try the alcohol free beer, pirely because I can't face anything other than water immediately post-marathon, but agree with what others have said about the organisation being spot-on, the marshalls were great, I much preferred the route without all the doubling-back on yourself that last year's route had.

Shame my run was pants, but I guess you can't have everything ;-)

Totally agree, it was a top event today. My first Manchester Marathon so can't compare it to previous ones, proper chunky medal, ok tech tshirt, no leaflets in recovery bag, excellent water and energy stations. Great Marshals, even the Marshall at the photo place picked up my bag as I struggled to bend down. I actually preferred it to London.
I did notice that the route seems a little congested as I saw the runners heading out at about the 8 mile mark but didn't affect me.

And getting a 6 min PB always helps too.

One thing I did notice is that the start lane/funnel seemed to be rather narrow, it might have taken people some time to get over the line. Last year it seemed broader, though I could be mistaken. Didn't trouble me as I was right near the front anyway. In fact maybe it helped the first few hundred metres of the run be less congested (maybe that was the point).

Took me 16mins to cross the line for me but after that, really didn't get congestion.

Thought race was great. Bag drop was good. Big relief. Water stations and marshalls agree with previous comments. I loved it. First half was on warm side for me given fact i have hardly seen sun in training. Race was as good as could be hoped for. Sneaked few mins under 4 hrs so delighted given training able to do.

Think you're right Justin, it did take me longer to get over the line than last year, but you may be right in that being the point, as the first mile definitely felt less congested than last year.
