WW - I'm afraid you're behind the times... the council are digging-up the road that goes up the Himalayas, so the route has changed slightly this year and so we only make it as far as Base Camp. So no need for full arctic gear.

And I'd even gone and done altitude training for it...well that was a waste of time.

think yourself lucky. I've been intentionally* adding an extra layer of blubber to cope with the altitude.
* may involve poetic license.

how is everyone getting on. I find this bit of training a little dull. did obsta colour run with my youngest on sunday. it was wet but he had some fun. seeing someone through an entire pot of paint powder into my eye a little amusing. no harm done.

Spanners - the P&D 12 week plan keeps the training going but at reduced mileage right through the last 2 weeks. Added to this is my wish to loose another pound or two, and the carb loading protocol and details of race prep next week, so I've got a fair bit to keep me occupied. Following a 10K race on Sunday I reviewed my race pacing, and after dreaming about WAVA and VO2max read-across times, I faced reality and shall aim for about 2:57:00 ie a mile or two @ 7:00 ish, then 6:40 ish.

Ramping down the workouts, Sunday was a fell race - tough going but only 50 mins, and I'll continue to do some hard running this week at least, but nothing excessively long. I've been feeling a bit tired since last weekend actually. Still wondering if I might drop another pound before loading up for the race.

Hope everyone's training has gone well and you are looking forward to the race. Disappointingly I've decided not to run. After straining my ankle five weeks ago I was just too eager to get back out and back on track. As a result I've repeatedly kept setting it back. Gutted because I was really looking forward to this years race but I don't want to risk causing further damage. It's still very weak and I'm under trained. Always next year I hope. Good luck & enjoy

Sorry to hear that Pedro, hope you can get back to it soon.
Probably a long shot, but is anyone aiming around 2:50? I know there are a couple significantly quicker than that. Not that I've really done anything in training to justify the target, but I feel like giving it a go!

if you have some flexibility around the first number of those three then I might have chance! (that's a 'sorry, no')
