What a day! Like life work evering so much good and a couple of ..... development points. Up at 6 for poridge. Then daughters pal J and i collected Fetch Royalty Sioux and an hours drive to Manchester. All going well for a 0740hrs arrival at MUFCcarparks but..... Development point one didnt carefully read instructions 2 oops didnt follow signs on M60 saying junction 11 for Marathon but my st nav says j7 or 8 - went on a loopthen into Manchester oops ont the route
Good point 1 changed mind re MUFC car park - and went in Cricket club car park - calmness destressing.
short walk to baggage.
Loo queue as always ok. walk to start and stright onto course no barriers good. oh where are the pens pacers etc. Pacers came from the right, i awaited the 4hr pacers and set off infront. Then after a few miles saw that the 3:59 pacer was my pal Kaz Chester pacer. I stuck with her to around 16miles or so. my pace fell then but still going well within b time trying to hold it together . Lots of great banter with the community of runners and fechies sorry if i didnt recognise folks - do post a response here for sticker booking
Miles 16- 20 was tryig to keep it together doing ok. Psychologically always 20+ is another area. Managed to keep it together through pace was going west, saw wife and daughter at mile 25, im focussing on keeping going. At 22-24 is i was still potentially in pb teritory as target pace average overall was sub 9:40 something, and trying to caculate how near i wwas to finish, but reaising a couple of 11min miles may do it to sub 4:17. Not to be . as the finish was near i pushed in final km milking crowd going past folks - so my loss of pace was in the mind , yes? But frightened of really pushing in mile 23-24 as may blow!. But to finish in 4:19 garmin time - was disappointing as 2min or so from pb - but really really pleasing as of 36 marathons t was my 3rd or 4th best. Ive not done the pace anaysis yet , lots more learning to apply in Edinburgh in a few weeks.

That was a blog post, but just to add great to meet so many great folks, the 3:59 pace group was fun for the 10-14 on so miles I was with Kaz till about 16 or 17 .
Looking forward to reading about everyone's day but later. A bit of rest before food & Guiness. Enjoy the accomplishment folks and the lessons 😊

If you'd missed off the last three words UC, that would have been the best ever excuse for loosing a pace group
Congratulations all on some performances

Hi UC, I ran the first 7 miles either with or just in front of the 4:45 pacer, then I fell of the back my target was 5:05:00 and I got inside that
