Would there be such a thing as a married couple who were not friends/friendly but who still had sex?

Yeah, I suppose there would. Not a nice thought though is it?

Yep. One of my best mates is in exactly that situation. It's not nice at all.

Married, single, or whatever I could never see me giving up on sex. All that changes is the number of people present. Currently I don't need to use the plural.

Surely you've tried lying on your left arm?
... er... moving swiftly on...

Yes. Don't ask me how I know.
I can testify that knowing that one's spouse is consulting psychiatrists, therapists, counsellors and the like and analysing "their" and hence your sexual activities in some detail (with reference to written prompts) during those consultations is a powerful anti-aphrodisiac.

I don't think there's anything wrong with just enjoying being friends and enjoying companionship and it's preferable to many than bad relationships of the past. I couldn't do it though, I need the extra level of intimacy.

I think people worry far too much about how much sex they believe other people are having and that's when most of the difficulties arise. There's an acre (at least) of difference between "normal" and "normal for you" and acceptance of what's "normal for you" isn't helped by the masses of "statistics" that seem to be bandied about concerning how many times a day/week/month "everyone else" is doing it.
