The clash of cultures last night was hilarious - Jacquees was playing at The Ritz, directly opposite Gorilla, and the two queues made for great people watching:-)
When the heavily made up, scantily clad young ladies spilled out onto the street from The Ritz, most got picked up by Mum and Dad, but the ones that were old enough thought they might grab a post-gig cocktail in Gorilla. One look at the heaving mass of *very* sweaty middle-aged people in jeans and t-shirts inside sent them running, looks of horror all over their faces
Interestingly, lycra shorts and hi viz were very popular amongst the Jacquees crowd. I thought it was just for runners...

Yes. I remember my cousin (who is tall and good looking) working in a bar around then where cycling shorts were the required uniform. He got a lot of unwanted attention. Wouldn't be allowed now. I hope.

Not a gig.but I spent 12 hours last night on the streets of Truro, camping out to get some decent vinyl. I've not camped out for it before but that was slightly preferable to staying in my daughters student flat.
Got a decent haul with a Duran Duran double LP for the wife Art of Noise 4 x LP Propaganda 4,x LP Green Day live LP (another for the wife) Life of Brian soundtrack Idles and Courtney Barnett EP's.

Well done getting the Courtney EP.
I had a look for it at Ben's in Guildford. Quite a lot of one upmanship bollox overheard in there.

You get a few who are in the q for three days to get a copy of the soundtrack of a French arthouse movie from 1926. But then you get people collecting allsorts, hell there was a wan next to me desperate for the madness picture disc. And of course like gig tickets you have got people selling them on eBay before the shops have even opened because they have no interest in collecting.
In was lucky with CB, they only had one copy and I was 10th in the queue.

We had tickets for the Wedding Present at Gladstone Pottery Museum in December. It was cancelled due to snow. Sadly the replacement gig is at Keele University, not the pottery museum. Bit glum about that.

Ahhhh, nice to see the old “for the wife” ruse is still in use for buying music you’re to embarrassed to admit is yours, is still in use. 😀😀😀

Haven’t been to a gig for a while. Last one was The Ramonas in Guildford in March. They’re primarily a Ramones tribute band, but have an album of their own out which I like a lot.
Got The Wildhearts supported by Massive Wagons in Cardiff coming up. Then Slam Dunk Festival at the end of May. Mainly for the Punk In Drublic stage for Bad Religion & The Interrupters.

I dont actually mind Duran Duran but not to the extent that I'd sit out all night to buy record for myself. I did get my leg pulled all night by the lad next to me after he asked me what Ibwas there for. He then told me he was after a jazz record for his first pick and I gave him Pelter's.
