Love Me Rex and know Myles McCabe who is the singer and lyricist, a very talented lad who is also in Fresh. Myles is also in Fresh Phoebe Cross who is in Me Rex is also one third of Cheerbleederz and Happy Accidents. Kathryn Woods who is in Cheerbleederz and also the main vocalist in Fresh also used to be in Me Rex. Rich Mandell who is in Me Rex is also in the Happy Accidents. Its all a bit intertwined and last yea at 2000 trees Kathryn Woods played in all three bands. They are all great. |

Finally got to see The Anchoress tour her brilliant 2021 album The Art of Losing at Boileroom last night. Top tunes and insightful chat. The Art of Losing is a real gem, great to go back and listen again to her records. Contemplating going to Brighton to see her again.

The Anchoredd isn’t someone off come across before and she’s playing down the road at The Trades. But it’s sold out.

Went to see Matthew Simms (Wire) and Verity Susman's (Electrolane) new venture Memorials last night in Sneaky Pete's. My friend wrote on FB "Did I just witness the gig of the year if not gig of the last few years? Memorials blew me away!!" Well, I sure af wouldn't go that far, I suspect they were maybe a wee bit rusty but it was certainly good enough and I enjoyed it despite some minor sound issues. Hope they go on to huge things though and I can tell people (who probably couldn't care less) that I was at their first public gig ever 😄

Saw Frankie and the heartstrings in Sunderland on Saturday. Was a wonderful evening celebrating 10 years of their ‘pop up’ shop that never popped down.

Toodles & The Hectic Pity yesterday in Nottingham. Loved them, even though it was past my bedtime by the time they came on. Live, Do Nothing were good supporting. There were too many of them to fit on the stage. 😄

May gigs for me Started the month with Elephant sessions for the first time. Very good! Support act was a Scottish fella, cammy barnes who popped up on this weekends BGT. But we won’t hold that against him!!! Then last weekend was Skinny Living, who I’d seen previously as support for Kaiser chiefs. They are a huge fave of mine and deserve to be bigger than they are so far. |
