Saw the Trash farewell gig at The Leadmill last night which was good.

Unexpected gig today with a BBC introducing show on at Rough trade Nottingham. We were in town with a few hours to kill so I went along to watch CompreHend. One lad came on and announced himself as a rapper from Leicester and I fought the urge to leave immediately. Im not a fan of rap at all but I liked him, he was quite an unnasuming young lad with some good lyrics

Not one Ill be seeing again but I enjoyed it far more than anticipated.

HowFar?
Chvrches supported by Let’s Eat Grandma last night at the Ulster Hall. Razorlight supported by Indoor Pets tonight at the Limelight in Belfast.

Chvrches were the pick of the bunch by a mile, although Razorlight were very energetic and I did quite enjoy it. It would have been better to have the gigs in the reverse order because they were never going to match last night’s performance.

Fitz
Not quite a gig in the traditional sense, but I went to the Defected Records night at Studio 338 in Greenwich on Saturday.

Ridiculously over-crowded venue, a bit of a shithole beside the Blackwall Tunnel, massive queue to get in. Ibiza it ain't

The music was fine although we had to retreat to the upstairs room two, couldn't handle the crowds in the main room.

A few of the "youngsters" surreptitiously pointed at and commented to their mates about Mrs Fitz and myself. We were considerably older than most of the punters, but not yet in the league of those octogenarians that pitched up at Fabric a while back. So a bit rude, I thought. Defected has been going 20 years, when many of them were in pushchairs, and House, well that's been a thing since the 80s, before they, but not we, were born.

Skinny Lister in Leicester on Saturday, I expect a raucous event. If you dont know them take a listen to Down on Deptford Broadway, its a cracking album.

Off to the Horn in St Albans to watch some young bands, and avoid the football.
