Just bought my ticket for the Stag & Dagger festival in Glasgow. One wristband ... multiple venues. As many bands as you can fit in between 1pm and midnight. Looking forward to Goat Girl (whom I've seen before), Pip Blom, Dream Wife, Fauves, Honeyblood, etc. Plus it's the May Day weekend so I'm off on the Monday ... happy days !

Saw James at City Hall on Sunday night. They always had a reputation of being a great live band so I was a bit worried when Tim Booth appeared on crutches and sat on a revolving chair for the first part of the set, but they were magnificent.

First half of the set was semi- acoustic ('we're the miserable support band') and then ramped up a bit after the interval.

Having seen the original 'Coming Home' tour at the height of their Madchester fame, I was transported back almost 30 years, dancing like no-one was watching. A massive back catalogue to draw on and still writing pertinent and pithy lyrics.

Great to see a band who have famously drifted apart, reformed, fallen out and come back together enjoying and living the moment tight on stage.

Tomorrow is one of my favourite ever songs. Sounds excellent.

I'm afraid my gig going has come to.a shuddering halt until I get myself a.new job.

Tomorrow was one of the stand out tracks of the night. Sorry to hear your gig going will be curtailed Joops. If you're ever in north-east Englandshire I'll shout you a night out. Good luck with the job hunting.

I never saw James "back in the day" but have seen them a good few times in recent years, usually in great venues such as Brixton Academy. Always good, varying the set rather than pushing the greatest hits + 2 new songs like many others.

James are the band I have seen live the most. First saw them around 1990, I think. They played in Glasgow one December. Sound, with Andy Diagram playing the trumpet while wearing a pair of huge angel wings, stands out as one of my all time gigging highlights.

Saw The Blinders last night in La Belle Angele in Edinburgh. Small venue (500ish) and totally packed out. It was quickly convened affair put together by Sailor Jerry (the alchohol brand) and hence only cost a fiver complete with a free drink. It was ABSOLUTELY MENTAL and maybe with my advanced years I shouldn't get down the front but I did and it was completely insane. First time I've seen crowd surfing for a few years. I'm going to see them again next month on their official tour ... can't wait now !

Ah Jeff you've discovered one of my favourite bands. I've seen them several times and urs always mental. As a side note Chief has a big man crush on Charlie, the bass player.

The album is superb too. We are seeing them again at Scala at the end of May which I expect to be just daft.

Scribbler, I forgot to recommend Tom Williams who is.playing the Cluny in April. He's a very talented lad and a smashing bloke as well.
