Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Doves and IDLES in next year's calendar now. I'm not at all confident either will go ahead, but may as well try.

Off to see Frank Turner at Nottingham Arboretum on Saturday. My expectations are very low but I’ll give it a go.

(Wonder how Joops got on)

Rather weird feeling to receive an email today for The Great Escape fest in Brighton in May next year. There was no mention of Covid or antiCovid measures in the mail at all. Maybe news about vaccines is boosting their confidence but having thought hard about it for all of about 30 seconds, there's no way I'll be going to that.

It's a 'moveable' fest across the city where you have access to about 30 or so venues and you traipse about between them. More superspready than a Trump rally.

I seem to be receiving 3-4 emails a day about gigs next year. Billy is planning to go to Hamburg in April to see a band. I don't think that will happen.

One of the venues - Concorde 2 - sent me a separate email. They're hoping to reopen post-Lockdown 1 with tables occupied by up to 6-people bubbles. I'm not sure that will happen either, but that is a long way away from max occupancy in an upstairs room of a pub with everyone bouncing around, which was much of the point of TGE.

FT gig was brilliant? In a location that would ordinarily house at least four to five times more people and on a gentle slope so that everyone could see.

It helped with it being FT where you tend to get a more mature and respectful crowd that will adhere to restrictions.
