Hello ladies, thought I would come over here now that I've started running again.

So far I'm managing a steady 3miles but blimey it's hard work!! Managed the River Ness 5K race last month, ran it with a friend and just tried to enjoy it even though it was crazy busy.

I wanted to ask if anyone got any comments about how they shouldn't be running and that their focus should be on their baby instead? If you have, how have you responded as it has been a little upsetting. I'm lucky in that my partner is very supportive and is happy for to go out for a run to let me have 30mins to myself, then Fergus gets some daddy time to himself!!

However after having the same 2 comments in about a week I'm now doubting myself and felt really, really guilty going out on Thursday even though Fergus was happy with daddy. It took 1hr for my OH to convince to just head out and enjoy my run :(

people will always have comments about how we bring up our children. You're not just a mother, and if you're happy and healthier you'll be a better parent and better all round.

tell them to sod off.

Thanks Ruth, think I'm just being super sensitive. I did think the same that if I'm healthier then it can only be a benefit for him :)

The 5K follows the last little bit along the river and over the bridge towards the finish. It starts off by going round the back of the park and then criss-crosses over some of the bouncy bridges, but the paths are too small for the amount of people that were running as it was so congested (it was only a fun run after all)

None of their business, as long as you are happy as a family then go for it. I have a supportive OH too which makes all the difference...

Susiesue, I had a bad run in with a pre natal yoga teacher when I was pregnant with no.1. I got lots of stares with the buggy and someone told me I had my priorities wrong. I've had people say I should be focussing on my marriage (before we had kids).

My eldest has always seen my run and has an interest in it. Not only are you doing what's right for you but you're a tremendous role model. I'd tell them to sod off but less politely. You're doing great. If you said you were off for a bath for an hour no one would bat an eye lid xxx

Thanks Taz and KP - I just need to have some tougher skin. I know that Fergus is getting the best care from both of us and is thriving but I'm just a little to soft to tell them to sod off ;)

KP that's a shame. after we had done the 5k we were sitting in the pub just over the bridge cheering everyone on. I really do love going up to Inverness when the marathon is on, it's such a great atmosphere - I've been up 3 times now and ran all 3 distances :)
