You set a primary activity tracker and the other devices you use tru-up their data to that data set I believe. Basically it’s one set of data for you from multiple devices linked to the same Garmin account.

Has anyone got their Garmin to detect lactate threshold without the specific workout?
The issue for me may be that the detected max is too low. I'm tempted to turn off detection actually.
I've used a chest strap on a few progressive runs.

I'm assuming it should tell you if it detects your LT?

Sure, it's happened several times, even once when I was running a touch slower than where I think the threshold is, IIRC. It is mostly a small adjustment either side (in beats or seconds) of where I think it is anyway. If there was a special factor like wind or bad footing I turn down the suggested change. This is using Epix/HRM-Pro and watch recommendations, which tend to be after threshold or long, like 7 min, intervals.

Fair enough. I do undulating routes but wouldn't expect that to be an issue.

Am I right in thinking that for someone wanting a smallish half-decent Garmin watch, that the 45S is still the only "value" end option? There isn't a 55S that I can see, and budgets won't stretch to a Fenix!

There's a 255s I think, not sure of size compared to 45s

Vivoactive 4s and Forerunner 255s might be worth a look, but yes the 45s is the only budget option

55s is 42mm diameter, 255s is 41mm diameter
