I had problems using a RH tin opener until I got fed up and bought a LH one -what a transformation! :-)
Same with LH scissors.

Shame I can't find a LH butter/margarine spreading knife - RH ones have the serrations on the wrong side so I end just pushing the margarine across the bread instead of spreading it. That is one of the few things I have to use RH. :-(
Similarly with bread knives having the serrations on the wrong side. although I can use that LHed if I don't mind wonky cut bread! ;-)

I leave Geoff to cut bread as I always make a mess of it. I can’t use those dainty cake forks either.

I've never even given a thought to bread knives, spreading butter, etc. I just do it left handed and hadn't considered that there might be a better outcome if I had left handed tools or did it right handed (which I don't think I'd be able to do). It's never really been an issue for me, however it might explain why C has noted in the past that I can't cut a loaf straight!

And tin openers are no problem because we use the ones that go on top of the tin, rather than the side, and they seem pretty easy to use.

This thread and its comments have prompted me to write a blog Those Pesky Right Handers make Life Difficult for the Rest of Us :-p fetcheveryone.com/blog/37839/2022/9/455345 which you may find amusing/interesting/thought provoking - or not. ;-)

One of the few “specialist” items I’ve ever owned was a left-handed italic nib for a fountain pen ( for basic calligraphy during art lessons at grammar school). When we retired I went to our local posh stationers (sadly now shut) because I thought it would be a nice thing to pick up again, it’s really hard to just go and buy one (I still haven’t managed it!)
